About Me

Danielle Noble - Lunenburg Doc FestMy name is Danielle Noble, and this website is to document and showcase a portfolio of my work in documentary film, journalism and photography. Examples of my work include print and online articles, TV news stories, and a documentary film. I also have included a link to my travel blog, “The Wild Rovers“. This blog was created to document an adventure through film, photography and writing as I  traveled through the southern United States in 2013 for six months in a 1960 Land Rover. Other than my abilities in film, photography and writing, I also have skills in graphic design, web design, and research.

I graduated in 2012 from the University of King’s College with a combined honours degree in Journalism and French. During my studies at King’s I completed the Advanced Television Documentary workshop, where I created a ten-minute long documentary film titled “Other Mother: A Doula’s Story” with classmates Alex Faubert and Amy Crofts. I also took the Television Workshop, where we produced The ‘Fax for Eastlink. During this workshop I acted as producer, storyteller, host, cinematographer, and writer for various episodes of The ‘Fax. My third workshop was in Narrative Nonfiction, where I completed  a 3,000 word magazine piece. I also wrote my thesis at the University of King’s College on social media and how it is affecting seniors in the way they access news. The thesis article was titled “Seniors Go Social, But Not for News” and can be found on this website in the journalism section.

I completed an internship at Tell Tale Productions in May, 2012 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. During my time spent working with the documentary film company, I conducted and researched a large-scale project on Canadian Content which was presented at Hot Docs, Canada’s largest international documentary film festival in 2012. I also worked as a production assistant on various shoots. Other work experience includes conducting research for another documentary film company, Picture Plant Ltd, in Luneburg, Nova Scotia.

Outside of school and the world of journalism, I have many other creative interests. I am a musician, and I love to sing and write music. I am also a dancer, and I enjoy drawing and creative writing. I currently reside in the beautiful town of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, working as a freelance journalist and documentary filmmaker.

I am also  very excited to say that I was just awarded a 2014 documentary Doc Accelerator Scholarship with Hot Docs! To learn more about the scholarship, click here.
